ConsenSys, renowned for its DeFi products like Metamask and Skale, made an exciting announcement today. They have officially launched Linea, the highly anticipated Layer 2 solution, which had garnered significant attention during its testnet phase.
Linea, developed by ConsenSys using ZK-rollup technology, aims to address scalability challenges. The project witnessed tremendous engagement during the testnet stage, with over 40 million transactions conducted by 5.5 million wallets within three months. The team behind Linea states that the solutions it offers will reduce transaction fees on the Ethereum network by 15 times. Initially, the new network will be accessible to launch partners, followed by its availability to all developers.
Moreover, Linea’s zkEVM service is expected to simplify the integration process for Ethereum developers. This feature may further elevate the network’s appeal during the mainnet phase. Although no official announcement has been made regarding a Linea token, there are speculations among investors, including Metamask users, about potential airdrops. However, details about token distribution remain undisclosed at this time.
