Nardaran Fortress, one of the ancient defensive structures of Absheron, is a rare example of medieval Azerbaijani architecture.
According to historical sources, the fortress was built in the 14th century and served both defensive and surveillance purposes.
Located in the Nardaran settlement of Baku, this magnificent monument features thick defensive walls, semicircular towers, and a three-story central tower.
On the first floor, there is a dry well marking the start of an underground passage. This route leads from the Nardaran shrine to the summer residence of the Shirvanshahs.
Recognized as a world-class architectural monument, Nardaran Fortress still preserves its grandeur and is a valuable part of Azerbaijan's rich historical and cultural heritage.
