The New South Wales gaming regulator on Monday fined Star Entertainment's Sydney casino A$10 million ($7.18 million) for financial crime risk management failures.
The NSW Independent Casino Commission (NICC) also issued an enforceable undertaking requiring the casino to set aside an additional A$5 million.
The fines come as Star's Sydney license remains suspended indefinitely, with the casino still under a NICC-appointed manager.
The NICC said that Liquor and Gaming NSW investigated thousands of breaches at The Star Sydney between December 2018 and September 2025.
Many breaches were detected through the casino's remediation program and subsequent investigations. Some were self-reported by Star.
NICC Chief Commissioner Philip Crawford said while breaches of the Casino Control Act 1992 were concerning, many occurred before systematic remediation processes were implemented.
"Imposing these fines reiterates the seriousness with which the NICC considers any breaches that leave customers vulnerable or casinos open to criminal infiltration," Crawford said.
Star Entertainment swung to a third-quarter loss from a profit, hurt by seasonal weakness and lower table games revenue.
