Igor Protti, former striker for Italian club Lazio, has passed away at the age of 58.

According to the club's press service, doctors diagnosed him with colon cancer in June 2025.

"The top scorer of Serie A, B, and C won the hearts of all fans with unforgettable goals. He was a true example both on the pitch and in his fight against illness," the club stated.

Protti played for Lazio in the 1996-1997 and 1998 seasons. He also represented clubs like Livorno, Bari, Napoli, and Messina.

In the 1995/96 season, he scored 24 goals for Bari, becoming the Serie A top scorer. In 1998, he won the Italian Super Cup.
