FIFA's Disciplinary Committee has conditionally suspended the red card of US striker Folarin Balogun, allowing him to play against Belgium in the round of 16.
According to “The Athletic”, Balogun received a red card in the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina for a dangerous tackle. He was initially set to miss the next game.
Under Article 27 of FIFA's Disciplinary Code, the one-match ban has been replaced by a one-year probation period. If Balogun commits a similar offense within that time, the suspension will be enforced.
In 2025, Cristiano Ronaldo received a conditional suspension after a red card for elbowing in World Cup qualifiers, allowing him to avoid a longer ban and play in the World Cup.
Balogun, 25, plays for Monaco. He is the US team's top scorer in the 2026 World Cup with three goals in three games.
The US-Belgium match will be played on July 7. The winner will face the winner of Spain-Portugal.
