The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened a preliminary probe into 114,922 Rivian vehicles over a rear toe link issue.
The problem affects the R1S and R1T electric vehicles.
Two owner complaints reported the left rear toe link separating while driving, causing sudden swerving across lanes.
One incident resulted in a collision with an adjacent vehicle and roadside barrier.
Rivian stated that its internal data shows the R1 toe link joints are functioning as intended.
"We are cooperating with NHTSA’s preliminary evaluation, but our internal investigation revealed that the two vehicle owner questionnaires do not implicate the joint itself," the company added.
The probe will assess the joint's sensitivity to road conditions and evaluate Rivian’s repair procedure.
In January, Rivian recalled nearly 20,000 R1S and R1T vehicles due to incorrectly assembled rear toe links.
