Azerbaijan's cotton cultivation has increased more than sevenfold, said Zeynal Naghdaliyev, assistant to the President.
In 2015, only 18,700 hectares were planted with cotton, yielding 35,200 tons. The average yield was 18.8 centners per hectare.
Starting in 2016, large-scale state programs boosted cotton farming. By 2018, 233,600 tons were harvested from 132,500 hectares.
Last year, farmers produced 362,900 tons from 100,400 hectares, with the average yield reaching 36.1 centners per hectare.
