Thousands of Cubans gathered Friday before the U.S. embassy in Havana to protest the U.S. indictment of former leader Raul Castro over the downing of two civilian planes 30 years ago.
The pro-government demonstration, starting at sunrise on Havana's waterfront, comes as Cuban officials rallied around the island's former president and revolutionary hero this week.
Cuba says Castro's murder indictment on Wednesday was based on "spurious" allegations designed to justify an invasion amid a Trump administration push to topple the island's government.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero attended the rally; the 94-year-old Castro did not.
