The US Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has announced plans to bring Cuban leader Raul Castro to the United States for trial.
Speaking to Fox News, Blanche said: "We need Castro here to face justice. We will do everything in our power to bring him."
Blanche cited the capture of former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro as an "extreme example," but noted that extraditions and international cooperation are more common methods.
The DOJ has indicted the 94-year-old Castro for the 1996 downing of two planes by the Cuban Air Force, killing four people. Five others are also charged in connection with the incident.
