Lion Finance Group PLC announced that its Armenian banking subsidiary Ameriabank CJSC has secured a loan package of up to $100 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The funds will expand financing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and green investments in Armenia.
This transaction represents ADB's largest private sector deal in Armenia to date. Up to 75% of the funds will go to MSMEs, with at least 10% for women-owned businesses and at least 25% for green finance projects, including renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The package also includes up to $125,000 in technical assistance from ADB to strengthen Ameriabank's sustainability framework.
Lyaziza Sabyrova, ADB's Armenia Country Director, said the project aims to expand access to finance for MSMEs, especially women-owned enterprises, while advancing green investments.
Hovhannes Toroyan, CFO of Ameriabank, emphasized the strengthened partnership with ADB to support MSMEs through affordable financing.
Giorgi Shagidze, CFO of Lion Finance Group, noted the facility will support entrepreneurs across the country, with dedicated funding for green projects and women-owned businesses.
