Bond.az reports - Freddie Mac announced that the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.53% as of May 28, 2026.
This is up from 6.51% the previous week. A year ago, the rate was 6.89%.
The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.87%, up from 5.85% the prior week, compared to 6.03% a year earlier.
Sam Khater, Freddie Mac's Chief Economist, noted that pending home sales have increased for three consecutive months. While the housing market shows signs of recovery, Freddie Mac's stock has declined 31.5% over the past six months.
