JetBlue Airways announced plans to launch nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, Venezuela.
The proposed route, JetBlue's first to Venezuela, is subject to government approval. The airline aims to begin service before the end of 2026, with tickets expected to go on sale in the coming months.
JetBlue plans to operate the route using Airbus A320 aircraft. The service targets South Florida's Venezuelan community.
JetBlue carries $9.3 billion in debt against a market cap of $1.99 billion. Despite financial headwinds, shares have gained nearly 19% year-to-date.
Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning, noted that Fort Lauderdale serves as JetBlue's gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America, and Caracas service expands that presence.
JetBlue operates flights to over 100 destinations across the U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and Europe.
