Amazon.com was sued by consumers seeking refunds for higher prices caused by tariffs later ruled unlawful by the U.S. Supreme Court.
A proposed class action alleges the e-commerce giant collected hundreds of millions of dollars in unlawful tariff costs by raising prices before the Supreme Court ruling.
The Supreme Court in February said President Trump overstepped his authority by using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose sweeping tariffs.
Thousands of companies have sought refunds, but Amazon has not. The lawsuit claims Amazon avoided refunds to curry favor with Trump.
The funds belong to consumers, not Amazon, the lawsuit says. Amazon did not respond to a comment request.
