U.S. chipmaker Analog Devices is in advanced talks to acquire AI chip company Empower Semiconductor for about $1.5 billion in cash, Bloomberg News reported Monday. A deal could be announced as soon as Tuesday.
Empower Semiconductor, based in Silicon Valley, manufactures voltage-regulating chips for AI processors and data centers. The acquisition comes amid a surge in investment in data center infrastructure for generative AI workloads.
Analog Devices, headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts, provides semiconductors for aerospace, automotive, and communications. Its shares have risen over 50% this year.
