Analog Devices (ADI) is in advanced talks to acquire privately held semiconductor firm Empower Semiconductor for about $1.5 billion in cash, Bloomberg News reported.
A deal could be announced as early as Tuesday, but negotiations are ongoing and could still collapse.
Empower, based in Milpitas, California, develops power management chips used to regulate voltage in applications including data centers.
Analog Devices, which makes chips for industrial equipment, communications systems, automobiles and consumer electronics, has benefited from strong demand linked to artificial intelligence infrastructure and data center investment.
