Bond.az reports that Australian stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Discretionary, IT and Utilities sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.69%.

The best performers: Megaport Ltd (ASX:MP1) rose 8.56%, Austal Ltd (ASX:ASB) added 7.34%, and Infratil Ltd (ASX:IFT) was up 5.96%.

The worst performers: ASX Ltd (ASX:ASX) fell 8.80%, Endeavour Group Ltd (ASX:EDV) declined 5.19%, and Neuren Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:NEU) was down 4.30%.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 614 to 513, with 425 unchanged.

ASX Ltd hit 5-year lows; Endeavour Group hit all-time lows; Infratil hit all-time highs.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX was down 5.64% to 11.95, a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures fell 0.38%, Crude oil dropped 2.12%, and Brent oil fell 1.70%. AUD/USD was unchanged 0.27%, AUD/JPY fell 0.22%. The US Dollar Index was down 0.06%.
