Bond.az reports that Australian stocks were higher at the close on Thursday, with gains in the Materials, Metals & Mining and A-REITs sectors leading shares higher.
The S&P/ASX 200 added 1.47% at the close in Sydney.
Top performers included Guzman Y Gomez Ltd, which surged 12.81% to 18.05 Australian dollars. Virgin Australia Holdings gained 9.33%, and IGO Ltd rose 8.00%.
The worst performer was Stanmore Coal, falling 7.28% to 2.42 dollars. Contact Energy dropped 5.49%, and Rea Group declined 3.56%.
On the Sydney Stock Exchange, 722 stocks advanced, 411 declined, and 397 remained unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, measuring implied volatility, fell 6.23% to 13.12.
Gold futures for June delivery slipped 0.27% to $4,533.92 per troy ounce. Crude oil for July rose 0.31% to $99.31 per barrel, while Brent crude added 0.65% to $106.17.
The AUD/USD pair was unchanged at 0.38%, while AUD/JPY fell 0.33%.
The US Dollar Index Futures edged up 0.04%.
