A federal jury in Seattle cleared Boeing of fraud charges over safety issues with 737 MAX jets sold to LOT Polish Airlines. The verdict was reached on Friday after a two-week trial.
LOT had accused Boeing of concealing a critical change to the flight-control system linked to two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019. Those crashes led to a 20-month global grounding of the 737 MAX fleet.
The airline sought $153 million in damages from the grounding. The jury deliberated for three hours before reaching a unanimous verdict.
Boeing said: 'We are gratified by the jury’s verdict in our favor today.' LOT acknowledged the outcome but left open the possibility of an appeal.
