BP has ousted Chair Albert Manifold with immediate effect, citing governance and conduct issues. Four sources alleged aggressive behavior towards colleagues.
A BP spokesperson declined to provide further details. Reuters could not reach Manifold for comment.
Manifold's departure comes after scandal and repeated leadership changes at BP. Former CEO Bernard Looney was fired for lying about personal relationships. Successor Murray Auchincloss left abruptly in December.
The board unanimously decided to remove Manifold. Senior independent director Amanda Blanc stated: 'Albert brought focus, but the board was disappointed to learn of unacceptable conduct.'
Shares fell nearly 10% before recovering slightly. Interim chair Ian Tyler, former Balfour Beatty chief, was appointed.
