Canadian stocks closed higher on Monday, with the S&P/TSX Composite gaining 1.04% to reach a new all-time high.
Top performers included HudBay Minerals Inc (HBM), up 8.94%, First Quantum Minerals (FM) up 8.36%, and Capstone Mining Corp (CS) up 7.44%.
Worst performers were Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd (TVE) down 5.24%, Baytex Energy Corp (BTE) down 5.20%, and Athabasca Oil Corp (ATH) down 5.18%.
Advancers outnumbered decliners 703 to 254 on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The S&P/TSX 60 VIX fell 3.17% to a 3-month low.
Gold futures rose 1.07%, while crude oil prices plunged: WTI down 6.51% and Brent down 6.55%.
