Bond.az -- China's United Nations envoy on Friday opposed a proposed resolution by the United States and Bahrain regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
The draft resolution calls for Iran to stop attacks and mining operations in the strait. Diplomats expect Russia and China to veto the measure if it comes to a vote.
Chinese envoy Fu Cong stated that passing a resolution at this stage would not help. He emphasized the need for serious, good-faith negotiations between both sides.
As current president of the UN Security Council, Fu noted that China would not put the resolution to a vote if the decision were up to him.
