Google is well-positioned to benefit from the rise of agentic artificial intelligence as AI systems increasingly handle shopping, bookings, and other online transactions, according to a Bank of America Securities report.
The bank said the internet is evolving beyond traditional search toward AI-powered assistants capable of evaluating options, making decisions, and completing tasks on behalf of users.
Google has expanded its AI offerings through products including AI Mode, Universal Cart, Search Agents, and commerce-focused advertising tools. According to the report, AI Mode has reached about 1 billion monthly users, while AI Overviews serve roughly 2.5 billion monthly users.
BofA highlighted Google's Universal Commerce Protocol, a framework intended to connect AI assistants with merchants, retailers, and payment providers. Participants include Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, Target, Walmart, Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe.
The report said competition in the agentic AI space is intensifying. OpenAI has expanded its efforts through ChatGPT, which has nearly 1 billion weekly active users. Meta, Amazon, and Anthropic are also investing heavily in agentic AI products and infrastructure.
