Cuba's fuel reserves have completely run out, becoming one of the main causes of prolonged blackouts across the country.
According to Oxu.Az, Energy and Mining Minister Vicente de la O Levy stated on the "Mesa Redonda" TV program that there is no fuel oil or diesel in the country.
"The only things we have are associated gas from our fields and locally produced oil, whose output is increasing," the minister added.
He noted that Cuba has received no fuel shipments since December, except for a large donation of about 100,000 tons of oil from Russia four months later. This temporarily reduced the scale of outages, but reserves ran out by early May.
The energy minister emphasized that the government prioritizes developing domestic oil and gas production, as well as expanding solar energy generation and energy storage systems, as part of an energy transition strategy.
