WARSAW - Emitel, a Polish portfolio company of Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Limited (LSE:CORD), has acquired a data centre facility outside Warsaw with 2 MW of total IT load capacity, according to a press release.
The acquisition marks Emitel's entry into the data centre market. The facility was developed to Tier III+ reliability standards as defined by the Uptime Institute and offers co-location, cloud computing and data processing services to Polish and Pan-European enterprise customers. The site includes scope for future expansion.
Maciej Pilipczuk, CEO of Emitel, said the data centre is located in an accessible location for customers in the Warsaw metropolitan area. "This development also reflects the rapid growth of technologies such as artificial intelligence, which require ever-greater computing power and advanced infrastructure," he stated.
Steven Marshall, Executive Chairman of Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Management, described the expansion as "a milestone for the company" that reflects demand for digital infrastructure across Central and Eastern Europe.
Emitel operates as a telecommunications infrastructure provider in Poland, offering services including terrestrial telecommunications infrastructure and smart city solutions.
Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Limited is listed on the London Stock Exchange and invests in digital infrastructure including data centres, fibre-optic networks, and telecommunications towers in Europe and North America. The company has raised £795 million in equity and has a €375 million debt package comprising a €200 million Eurobond and €175 million of committed facilities. Its portfolio includes six acquisitions: CRA, Hudson, Emitel, Speed Fibre, Belgian Tower Company and Datacentre United.
