Bond.az reports that Alphabet Inc's YouTube and Snap Inc have reached agreements to settle a landmark lawsuit filed by a rural Kentucky school district.
The case is the first to go to trial over claims that addictive social media platforms disrupted public schools and diverted resources to address a youth mental health crisis.
The trial, scheduled for June 12 in California federal court, still involves Meta and TikTok. Wall Street is watching closely as a bellwether for over 1,200 similar lawsuits.
Bloomberg Intelligence estimates collective liability of nearly $400 billion. Settlement terms were not disclosed. A YouTube spokesperson said, "This matter has been amicably resolved."
