Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said stablecoins could extend the reach of US monetary policy abroad.
Speaking in Dubrovnik, Croatia, he compared adoption to a fixed exchange rate system that imports US monetary costs.
Waller reiterated support for stablecoins, noting they bolster the dollar's reserve currency status but need clear regulation.
He criticized central bank digital currencies as a solution in search of a problem, with most central banks abandoning them.
