The Ganja Heavy Crimes Court has concluded the trial of Khudat Mammadov, accused of murdering his acquaintance.
According to Oxu.Az, the verdict was announced. The court sentenced Khudat Mammadov to 11 years in prison.
According to the indictment, Khudat Mammadov killed his fellow villager and friend Anar Suleymanov. The incident occurred in 2024 at a café in Shamkir. Khudat, intoxicated, began cursing indiscriminately. Anar believed the curses were directed at him, sparking an argument that escalated into a physical fight. Khudat then stabbed Anar, resulting in his death.
The motive dates back to 2021 when Khudat's brother Fuad Mammadov attempted to kill Anar's sister Nigar and her young daughter. This strained relations between the friends. Anar left for Russia but later returned to Azerbaijan.
During the fight, other café patrons and witnesses were also injured. Police arrested Khudat, and the case was sent to court.
