The director of the internet channel "Demokratiya TV" has been arrested.
According to Oxu.Az, Arif Pashayev, a resident of Tartar region, is accused of extorting money from officials by threat. He is also charged with disseminating defamatory information about the deputy head of the Tartar Water-Melioration Systems Operation Department and other officials to seize their property.
Police launched an investigation based on a complaint and detained Pashayev. A criminal case was initiated and sent to court.
The court sentenced Pashayev to 5 years and 6 months in prison. Eight people were recognized as victims in the case.
