The trial of Javid Safarli at the Lankaran District Court has concluded. He was charged with causing a fatal traffic accident.
The court sentenced J. Safarli to 4 years in prison.
The incident occurred on the Alat-Astara highway near Goyhaban village. Safarli, driving a Toyota Prius, hit Rasim Teymurov, a cyclist. Teymurov died from his injuries.
The driver stated that while driving, he passed a landfill with a strong smell. He held his nose with one hand and steered with the other, losing control.
