A man who committed a crime in Russia years ago has been apprehended in Azerbaijan.
Najmaddin Mammadov (surname conditionally), born in 1978 in Shaki, started trading together with his compatriot Adamkhan Shukurov at the "Persey" Shopping Center in Moscow in 2012. Both were selling women's shoes. After a while, a disagreement arose between them. Mammadov, seeing that Shukurov was doing good business, began to create problems for him.
Despite this, Shukurov continued his trade. A few days later, while in the shopping center's garage, Mammadov saw Shukurov entering on foot and decided to kill him. He attacked Shukurov with a sawn-off shotgun from his car, injuring him in the back and head.
The victim was hospitalized. Mammadov immediately left Russia and came to Azerbaijan.
A criminal case was initiated, and a search was announced for Mammadov. However, since the accused was not found, the case was suspended.
In 2025, as a result of police operations, Mammadov was detained in Shaki. The criminal case was reopened and sent to court. The court sentenced Mammadov to 3 years and 6 months in prison.
The court, considering a reconciliation between the parties, applied Article 70 of the Criminal Code and suspended the sentence, making it conditional.
