Rashad Jafarov, a 43-year-old resident of Shushun village in Kurdemir, died after falling into a water canal passing through the village.
A witness described the incident to Baku TV: "I was looking around with my phone light when I saw shoes near the water. The children said Rashad wasn't there. We pulled him out and tried CPR, but there were no signs of life."
The victim's brother stated: "Rashad was afraid of water since childhood and couldn't swim. He was likely tired and lost his balance, falling into the canal. He was alone at the time. He has two sons; the elder is in military service, and the younger is in 9th grade. He worked as a laborer to support his family."
An investigation is underway at the Kurdemir District Prosecutor's Office.
