Lavender tea may help alleviate symptoms of misophonia, a condition where everyday sounds trigger irritation and anxiety. Turkish researchers found that regular consumption of lavender tea can reduce psychological symptoms of the disorder.

Misophonia causes strong irritation, anxiety, and even aggression in response to common household sounds. In a two-week study, participants who drank lavender tea twice daily showed significant reductions in anxiety, depression, and anger. The findings were published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research.

The study included 60 individuals diagnosed with misophonia, mostly women in their 20s. Volunteers brewed a packet of dried lavender and drank it morning and evening, inhaling the aroma deeply before each sip. The control group continued their daily routine without intervention.

Results showed that the tea-drinking group experienced improved misophonia indicators, better quality of life, and more effective coping with trigger sounds. However, lavender tea did not eliminate reactions entirely. Larger studies are needed to confirm the findings. Currently, it may be considered a potential supplement to existing treatments.
