Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has proposed a new-generation military training aircraft to Azerbaijan. The offer was made during a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev in Gabala.

Babiš stated that Aero Vodochody currently services and repairs aging L-39 jets. However, the focus is now on the modern L-39NG model. “We offer you this new aircraft and would be delighted if you consider it,” he said.

The Czech PM also highlighted Colt company's products, noting that Azerbaijan's police and other forces are already familiar with them. Colt is a major international supplier of high-quality equipment.

This proposal is seen as a significant step in modernizing Azerbaijan's military. Experts suggest the L-39NG could replace the aging fleet.

Military-technical cooperation between Czech Republic and Azerbaijan has been expanding in recent years. The new jet offer reflects this growing partnership. If agreed, the L-39NG could serve training and light attack roles.

President Aliyev expressed interest in the proposal. A technical and economic evaluation will determine the final decision.
