The Ministry of Science and Education and OpenAI have initiated cooperation to develop an adaptive learning platform. The platform is planned to be developed and implemented within the framework of the "Digital School" project.
Oxu.Az reports that the ministry released this information. It was stated that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, and OpenAI aims to create AI-based adaptive learning opportunities for more than 500,000 students.
The platform will integrate into the existing national curriculum and function as an additional AI-based tool. The solution will enable individual diagnosis of students' knowledge and skills, provide personalized tasks during lessons, and offer AI-based personalized learning support tailored to each student's needs. The platform will also provide real-time performance indicators for teachers, school administrators, and the ministry.
The application will initially be implemented as a pilot project and, based on the results, will be expanded gradually. The platform's implementation will consider teacher supervision, alignment with the national curriculum, continuous assessment, and data protection principles.
During the signing, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev stated that effective use of new AI tools for teachers and students is being created, ensuring responsible application of these technologies. Cooperation with OpenAI supports the integration of AI into education and aligns with the priorities of the "Action Plan for Accelerating Digital Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2028" approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
Kevin Mills, Head of Market Access for Education and Government Programs at OpenAI, noted that Azerbaijan demonstrates a thoughtful and ambitious approach to applying AI in education. The partnership between OpenAI and the Ministry of Science and Education is built on a strong national digital infrastructure and a commitment to supporting practical and responsible use of AI by students and teachers. He also discussed research showing that the platform, built on OpenAI's API technologies, will support learning, enhance classroom experience, and contribute to developing essential skills for the future.
Within the cooperation framework, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and OpenAI will work together to develop the national AI innovation ecosystem. This includes organizing hackathons, "build days" events, and structured research and development collaborations. The goal is to strengthen Azerbaijan's position as a regional hub for AI-based solutions.
