The Chair of the Board of the State Examination Center (DIM), Maleyka Abbaszade, has commented on the formation of passing scores.
In an interview with Trend and Baku TV, she stated that the assessment procedures are simple, but their explanation is complex.
She reminded that the condition for admission to competition is to score a certain threshold: 200, 150, or 60 points depending on the specialty.
"The number of people who achieve this threshold varies each year. The number of plan places and the number of applicants also change annually," she said.
Abbaszade noted that over the past 10 years, certain trends have been observed. For instance, the passing score for law and mathematics teaching became equal, which she sees as a positive change for society.
Interest in IT technologies has increased significantly. She added that it is impossible to predict exactly whether scores will rise or fall in a particular specialty.
Currently, plan places are expected to remain at last year's level, but final data is not yet available, so it is premature to make a definitive statement.
