The U.S. is conducting a second criminal investigation into ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, potentially leading to additional charges, sources say.
The probe, run by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami, has been ongoing for months. It was active when President Trump ordered the raid that captured Maduro.
The investigation examines money laundering allegations. Maduro's lawyer and the Justice Department declined to comment.
Maduro already faces narcoterrorism charges in New York. The Florida probe could serve as a backup if legal issues arise in that case.
