An explosion in a village in Myanmar has killed at least 55 people and wounded dozens more, the BBC reported on Sunday.

The blast occurred in Kaung Tat, a village in Namkham Township, Shan State. Among the dead are 25 women and 30 men. Reuters could not immediately verify the report.
