SINGAPORE, May 30 - Bond.az. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the U.S. is prepared to resume attacks on Iran if a deal cannot be reached, as negotiators work to bridge differences.
'Our ability to recommence if necessary... we are more than capable,' Hegseth said in Singapore. 'Our stockpiles are more than suited for that, both there and around the globe.'
Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue, Hegseth emphasized the U.S. has not abandoned the Asia-Pacific region: 'We can do two things at one time. We’re super-charging our defense industrial base to produce 2X, 3X, 4X the munitions soon.'
The Pentagon chief said President Trump is 'patient' and wants a 'great deal' to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
The U.S.-led war launched on February 28 has killed thousands, mainly in Iran and Lebanon, and caused global economic pain by pushing up energy prices due to Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
