Astronomers have discovered two giant exoplanets with record-low densities, located about 1,110 light-years away in the southern constellation Volans. The planets orbit a dwarf star of spectral type F7.
Named TOI-791 b and TOI-791 c, these gas giants are so fluffy that their densities are lower than that of cotton candy. TOI-791 b has a density of 0.038 g/cm³, while TOI-791 c is 0.047 g/cm³.
According to Oxu.Az and the New York Post, both planets are comparable in size to Jupiter but are 28-35 times less dense. Scientists note that only four such systems with these characteristics are known.
