Sudden weather changes pose a serious health risk. Russian doctor Tatyana Pinchuk warns that rapid temperature swings are more dangerous than extreme heat or cold.
A Chinese study of 272 cities found that each degree increase in daily temperature variability raises mortality by 0.8%, cardiovascular emergencies by 3.6%, stroke deaths by 5%, and respiratory disease deaths by 7%.
Cold stress weakens the immune system, increasing susceptibility to viral infections. To stay safe, avoid outdoor activities between 11 AM and 4 PM, drink plenty of water, and use air conditioning.
