Azerbaijan plans to implement changes in several types of compulsory insurance.
This was stated by Vusal Gurbanov, Director General of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, during a press briefing at the XI Azerbaijan International Insurance Forum (AIIF-2026).
He noted that work is underway to update the types of insurance related to compulsory personal accident insurance: "We are studying international experience and have taken these nuances into account within the framework of the concept being developed."
Changes are also planned for legislation in the field of compulsory motor insurance. Gurbanov said: "In that category, the insurance amount for material damage is 5 million manats, and this limit is automatically restored. That is, even if a citizen's property suffers damage of 5 million manats, the limit does not reset; it is renewed to the same level."
In other insurance products, the total insurance limit decreases after a payment is made, but motor insurance rules differ: the insurance limit is permanently maintained at the same level.
