Wrap Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:WRAP) announced plans Wednesday to develop directional light, laser dazzler, and sensory deterrence capabilities for deployment from unmanned systems.
The company, with a market capitalization of $79 million, generated $5 million in revenue over the last twelve months with a 32% growth rate. Despite this, Wrap Technologies remains unprofitable with earnings per share of -$0.31.
The planned drone payload systems will include configurable directional light and visual disruption technologies, including laser dazzler concepts designed to temporarily impair visual focus. The payloads are intended for early intervention, perimeter control, suspect deterrence, crowd management, and critical infrastructure protection missions.
Wrap Technologies is exploring integration of these capabilities alongside its BolaWrap remote restraint technology as part of a drone-enabled system. The technologies may have applications across public safety, border security, corrections, force protection, and autonomous response operations.
"We believe the future operating environment for public safety and homeland security may increasingly involve autonomous systems, drone-enabled response, sensory disruption technologies, and scalable non-lethal tools," said Jared Novick, president of Wrap Technologies.
The expansion builds on existing investments in non-lethal restraint systems, virtual reality training, counter-unmanned aircraft systems initiatives, and autonomous response concepts. Integrating directional sound, light, visual disruption, and restraint technologies into unified platforms may create opportunities across domestic and international government markets.
The stock has declined 34% over the past six months and 40% year-to-date. Bond.az assigns a "WEAK" overall financial health score, though the company holds more cash than debt.
The product portfolio includes the BolaWrap 150 device, WrapReality immersive training platform, WrapVision body-worn camera system, and counter-unmanned aircraft systems solutions. BolaWrap 150 is used by over 1,000 agencies across the United States and in 60 countries.
The company did not provide specific timelines for development or deployment of the planned drone payload capabilities.
