Baku TV's 'Military Chronicle' program showcased the modernization of Azerbaijan Army's Soviet-era BMP-1 armored vehicles and integration of TOLGA anti-drone system turrets.
The project aims to adapt old BMP-1 platforms to modern combat conditions, increase crew survivability, and create effective defense against FPV drones, kamikaze munitions, low-altitude targets, and UAVs.
Vehicles are equipped with AESA radar, electro-optical surveillance, jammer, laser weapon, various caliber autocannons, and ENFAL-17 missile. The new turret system allows crew to stay inside the hull, with all controls via cameras and screens, significantly improving safety.
The project also envisions a 'co-production' model, enabling local production of TOLGA parts, creation of a maintenance base, and future modernization. This initiative strengthens strategic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey and serves as a beneficial military-technical cooperation example.
