Military personnel in Azerbaijan will be provided with personal identification tags.
According to Oxu.Az, this issue is reflected in the draft amendments to the "Regulations on Military Service" and the "Law on Military Duty and Military Service" discussed at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.
Under the draft, servicemen will be provided with personal ID tags by the state bodies where they serve. The description, characteristics, and accounting procedures for the tags will be determined by the relevant executive authority.
The personal ID tag is a badge containing an individual identification number and blood type, used to identify servicemen who are killed, deceased, or injured.
The document emphasizes that servicemen face various risks during combat operations and other emergencies, where they may be killed or injured. In such situations, prompt identification and timely medical assistance are vital. The need to adopt this internationally proven mechanism has led to the proposal to introduce the concept of "Personal ID Tag" into the legislation.
The draft was put to a vote after discussions and adopted in the third reading.
