A recent serious motorcycle accident in Absheron district has highlighted the critical lack of modern diagnostic equipment in regional hospitals. The injured patient required CT and MRI scans, but the absence of these devices in local facilities raised serious concerns about healthcare accessibility.
Thousands of patients are forced to travel to Baku for diagnostic tests, causing overcrowding and long waiting lists in the capital's hospitals.
According to TABIB, only 30 CT scanners are available in its affiliated medical institutions: 11 in Baku and 19 in the regions.
Professor Adil Gaybulla noted that outdated equipment often breaks down, putting patients' lives at risk. He emphasized the need for regular technical inspections and repairs.
Ilgar Huseynli, head of the Social Strategic Research and Analytical Studies Public Union, stated that district hospitals still use equipment from the 1960s. The high cost of modern radiology devices and a shortage of radiologists exacerbate the problem.
