Choosing the wrong summer shoes can lead to serious health consequences.
Russian traumatologist-orthopedist Antonina Zavadskaya told Gazeta.ru that special attention is needed when selecting summer footwear.
The doctor noted that the lack of a heel reduces foot stability, increasing the risk of injury.
Narrow-toed shoes cause deformation of the toes and poor blood circulation.
The absence of adjustable fasteners in platform shoes also increases risk.
Sandals, sneakers, and flip-flops do not provide enough support, leading to overstrain of the calf, thigh, and back muscles.
Zavadskaya emphasized that the ideal summer shoe has a stable heel of 2-4 cm, a wide toe area, adjustable fasteners, and a secure back.
Elastic and non-slip soles are also important for comfort.
