Interest in Chinese cars has grown rapidly in Azerbaijan, but after-sales service has become a major problem. Cars imported individually are not serviced by official centers.
Expert Eldeniz Jafarov says Chinese cars brought privately do not meet European standards. Official dealers sell European specification vehicles.
This leads to incompatibility of spare parts and technical equipment. Service centers refuse to service unofficial cars due to liability.
Eyyub Huseynov, head of the Free Consumers Union, calls this a violation of consumer rights and says chaos reigns in the market.
He recommends demanding a service book when buying a used car. Counterfeit parts further complicate the market.
