For the first time in history, nine African teams qualified for the knockout stage of the Men's World Cup 2026.
Algeria, Cape Verde, DR Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Senegal, and South Africa advanced from the group stage.
The only African team to exit was Tunisia, finishing last in Group F without a point.
Five of the nine teams made history by reaching the knockout stage for the first time: DR Congo, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Egypt, and Cape Verde.
