Bond.az -- Goldman Sachs' (NYSE:GS) merger and acquisition volumes this year are on track to approach a 2021 record, driven by corporate activity, according to President John Waldron.

"We're on track to be near the record, if not breaching the record of 2021. Our backlogs feel good. Activity is remaining strong," Waldron said Thursday at a financial conference in New York.

Goldman Sachs, the world's top M&A adviser for over two decades, has benefited from strong global dealmaking.

The bank has worked on several large transactions, including advising Unilever (LON:ULVR) on the planned merger of its food business with McCormick (NYSE:MKC).

Turbulence linked to the war in Iran and swings in valuations have yet to deter corporate dealmaking.
