Israel moved closer to a snap election on Wednesday after lawmakers gave an initial nod to dissolve parliament.
The vote came after an ultra-Orthodox faction accused PM Netanyahu of failing to pass a military service exemption law.
110 lawmakers voted in favor, with no opponents or abstentions. The bill now heads to committee.
Polls show Netanyahu's coalition would lose a majority, and he faces a corruption trial.
An election could be held weeks before the October 27 deadline.
